Song of the week #39
I think I've mentioned before that I really like Charlie Simpson's solo music, so I was really interested when I saw he'd done a song with The Travis Waltons, who are a newer band that I hadn't heard of before last week. But I've listened to their second album, which was released a few months ago and I'm really into their sound. The song Separation Season (which is also the name of the album) is one of my favourites, and I love how Charlie's voice sounds on this; it really compliments the instrumentation and adds something more to the overall sound.
The way that it's a very driven song, but it's not filled with complex guitar lines is something I liked; it's more of a soft rock sound, but with a simple guitar line pushing the song on throughout. I just think it works so well and it's very different to anything I've heard before. I think it's quite a different sound to Charlie's style too, but he adapts very well to the different dynamic as he seems to be a fairly versatile musician.
I would really recommend having a listen to this song, as well as The Travis Waltons' album; something different and quite refreshing.
Until next time.
